Fitness Center Policies
1. Patrons are responsible for complying with all policies stated hereafter. An AASU Fitness Center Patron is defined as an AASU student or faculty/staff member. Patrons are only allowed in the facility during normal operating hours.

2. All patrons must present their AASU I.D. card at the staff desk upon entering the facility. Staff members on duty will swipe the card through the computer system to insure that the patron is a valid member.

3. Fitness Center staff shall monitor overall room conduct and use of equipment including the sound system, televisions, and thermostat. Patrons may not adjust televisions, sound system, thermostat, or move any equipment.

4. Backpacks, book bags, fanny packs, purses, and gym bags must be kept on the designated areas and may not be carried around the Fitness Center. Fitness Center Staff and the Department of Intramurals and Campus Recreation are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Patrons are responsible for all valuable and personal items. Lockers are available for daily usage and are recommended. Lockers are available on a first come- first serve basis and are not available overnight.

5. No food, drinks, or chewing gum are permitted in the Fitness Center. The only exception is beverages in a sealed plastic container or bottle. A water fountain is available in the facility. Water bottles are to be kept in a designated area away from all facility equipment.

6. Proper workout attire is required. NO STREET CLOTHES ARE ALLOWED. Athletic attire and athletic shoes are required-no sandals, denim clothes, or skirts allowed. Shoes must have a rubber sole and must be laced and closed-toe. No apparel with rivets or other decorations that may tear upholstery may be worn. Shirts must cover the mid-drift (no sports bras).

7. It is recommended that all patrons bring a clean towel to wipe down benches, upholstery, machines, and cardiovascular equipment after each use.

8. Only valid patrons are allowed in the SRC and Fitness Center. NO EXCEPTIONS. No one under the age of 18 is allowed in the Fitness Center.

9. Respect for equipment, facilities, and staff must be demonstrated at all times.

10. Bars, weights, and dumbbells must be returned to the proper plate holders or rack after each use.

11. Slamming or dropping dumbbells or weight stacks is strictly prohibited.

12. No equipment shall leave the facility at any time unless prior approval has been obtained by the Campus Recreation Office.

13. SPOTTERS must be utilized when necessary on all free weight equipment.

14. WEIGHT COLLARS must be used on all bars at all times.

15. Immediately report any Fitness Center-related injury or equipment irregularity to the staff member(s) on duty.

16. Fitness Center staff will assist patrons with the operation of equipment of which is unfamiliar and in order to prevent patrons from unsafe equipment usage.

17. Time is limited to 30 minutes on all cardiovascular equipment when someone is waiting.

18. Patrons must follow all Fitness Center policies and demonstrate courtesy towards others in the facility at all times. Patrons must maintain proper fitness center etiquette at all times.



Court Policies
1. Only athletic footwear is allowed. Footwear which marks floor surfaces or is worn inappropriately is not allowed. This includes spectators.

2. Athletic clothing only. Shirts are required at all times.

3. Dunking is not permitted. This includes hanging on the rim and "popping" the rim.

4. Hitting, kicking, or bouncing of soccer balls, basketballs, or other items against the walls is not permitted.

5. No personal items are allowed on the basketball courts. All items must be properly stored in lockers.

6. Do not move any equipment that is set up. Ask facility staff for assistance in moving any equipment.

7. Spectators are to sit in designated areas only.

8. A Facility Request form must be filled out and signed by the appropriate SRC Staff before tournaments, etc. can be scheduled.

9. No food, drinks, or chewing gum are permitted in the Wellness Center. The only exception is beverages in a sealed plastic container or bottle. A water fountain is available in the facility. Water bottles are to be kept in a designated area away from all facility equipment.



Exercise Rooms
1. Proper attire and shoes are required.

2. No one is allowed in the Exercise rooms while a class is in session unless they are participating.

3. Patrons must check in at the front desk before using exercise rooms.

4. A Facility Request form must be filled out and signed by the appropriate SRC Staff before activites, etc. can be scheduled.

5. Any SRC staff has priority over usage of the exercise rooms at any given time.

6. Exercise rooms will not be available for reservations for personal use.

7. No food, drinks, or chewing gum are permitted in the exercise rooms. The only exception is beverages in a sealed plastic container or bottle. A water fountain is available in the facility. Water bottles are to be kept in a designated area away from all facility equipment.



Equipment Checkout
1. All check-out equipment is for approved patrons only. Valid AASU ID must be presented at time of check out. SRC staff will hold ID until equipment is returned.

2. The equipment will be inspected upon return. Patron will be responsible for damages to equipment or items missing.

3. Equipment checked out over the weekend must be returned by noon the following Monday. Student will not be required to leave AASU ID over the weekend. A copy of the ID will be kept on file along with Student ID number.

4. Failure to return equipment on time will result in a fee/hold applied to AASU account.



Violations to these policies and/or the Student Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action or suspension from the facility.
